Fresh Popcorn

One of the last farmer's markets someone was selling fresh popcorn still on the cob. I decided to get a couple to see if using fresh popcorn made a difference in taste.

At the farmer's market there was a man with a machine which would remove the kernels off the cob but I decided to do it myself at home. Using my thumb nail I figured how hard could it be. Many, many minutes went by and a lot of damage to my thumb nail till I finally had one cob picked clean. How would you remove the kernels from the cob? The kernels are tough as nails and really cling to the cob.

One cob makes a very large bowl of popcorn. Several weeks later I used the other cob of popcorn. I can now say I've done it, but never again. I'll get my popcorn in a bag from now on. Ha. It was good but I couldn't detect a difference in taste. As I'm looking at the cobs of popcorn now perhaps one of those paint can openers would work to remove the kernels. What do you think? I won't be testing that theory though. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
