We were traveling along on the highway between Roanoke and Wytheville, Virginia and had just crossed a bridge before mile marker 67. The bridge we crossed over was particularly rough. Someone came alongside us and motioned for us to pull over. We had a flat tire. When you're towing a trailer you don't always feel when one of the wheels is flat. These are brand new tires with less than 3000 miles on them. The tread separated from the rest of the tire. Gary looked at the tire and it had a big gash perpendicular to the tread. Apparently the bridge caused the flat tire. I reported it to the Virginia DOT incident number 2352286.
Trucks were whizzing by at 70 mph beside us. Gary got the tire off and luckily we had Good Sam towing because our jack wasn't tall enough to raise up the trailer. We had to wait on the side of the road for quite some time hoping no one hit us in the rear. We limped to the next town and got another brand of tire because the brand we had wasn't available. If you travel to the Northeast expect to drive on bumpy and rough roads. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
