Back to the Drawing Board

Before you get too excited by the beautiful canisters, more than several had cracks at the seams. Can someone please help me. I mitered the seams, scored and slipped, and scored over the seam and was very careful. they have cracked on the outside but not the inside of the of seam. They didn't have cracks after the bisque.

These three didn't have cracks. I just love how these turned out so I plan to make more till I get it right.

I like the colors, textures, and two different styles.

 Oh well onward and upward.

A couple of my ribbon vases, medium size. One of my collectors called them ribbon vases and I like that description.

This color is more of a tangerine rather than bright orange.

Here is a textured blue and brown platter.

And the mini tiles turned out better than I expected. Well off to the farmer's market this morning. Thanks for reading and for all of your comments.

Price Leaders

At the last farmer's market the first item which sold was one of my sponge holders. I placed the holder on the bottom shelf without a sponge. A woman came into the booth and immediately picked it up and said she wanted it. She said she'd been looking for a sponge holder which was narrow for the back of her sink.

The last sponge holders seemed unstable with feet so I made these new ones without feet. I made these slightly larger hoping a large sponge will fit as well as a small sponge. I also added an extra row of texture for glazes which break. From the last group I threw away one and I held back the one in the first photo.

The next items which sold were a couple of my mini tiles. This time I've used stains on greenware and intend to put a transparent glaze over the top.

I've inserted nichrome wire as a hanging mechanism in the top of the tiles. I like to think of these items as price leaders. Inexpensive items which draw customers into the booth and hopefully encourages them to return for future pottery purchases. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

Sale of Mini Tiles

Originally I planned to make a mosaic frame for a mirror using these stoneware mini tiles. They look great randomly placed around the edge of a mirror. Now I realize I'm not going to get around to using these tiles. So I am listing them in my Etsy shop for a super sale price. There are 68 tiles and they're 1 1/2 inches square. There are four of each color except for the rose and there are 8 of those.

Here's what they all look like. These tiles are made of stoneware clay, textured with a vine or floral pattern, glazed in food safe non toxic glazes and high fired in my kiln. They're suited for mosaic or installation.

Everything in the bisque turned out just fine and now I'm firing a glaze load. Meanwhile I made a large wall tile with some relief additions. I'll probably crumple this up, not quite what I had in mind. Sometimes I have to let myself fool around though. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
