The Cat's Meow
Finally got into the studio yesterday and made this cat jar, the cat's meow, about sixteen inches tall. The paper is to keep the top from sticking to the bottom till it dries. Wondering if the top is fired on the bottom of the jar will it explode if there isn't a hole pierced somewhere in the head? Meanwhile we're hoping for some snow rather than ice pellets. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

ReplyDeleteHi Turquoisemoon, thanks, I need to make more
DeleteIf the lid is hollow it should not explode, just like any covered jar.
ReplyDeleteHi Lori, thanks, I guess I am confused if I make a sculpture that is hollow I have to put a hole but a lid I don't, I guess the air escapes under the lid?
DeleteIt is indeed the cat's meow. I hope your lead him through safely.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, hope the cats makes it.
DeleteNo hole needed, I fire lidded things with the lid on all the time. You are right about the air escaping through the space.
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, I was momentarily confused, and amazed that the air and fumes can escape through such a small opening.
DeleteThe expression on your cat's face is perfect - I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Khnoum, thanks, the cat is very smug isn't he?
