We're supposed to get frost this weekend so we got some plastic to cover the blooming fruit trees hoping to save the blossoms for some fruit to set.
This is my plum tree blooming; at least I think it's a plum. Maybe it's an apple; maybe a pear. If I get any fruit I'll know or once the leaves open I can tell.
These are flowering pear blossoms just about ready to pop open. These are Aristocrat variety (I remember what these are) with a more upright open growth habit than Bradford pear with less tendency to break branches in the wind or from ice damage. I finished the bisque and fired the glaze load yesterday. Today I'll unload the kiln and see how everything fared. Stay tuned for some finished work real soon. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
If you get fruit you'll know. If you don't get fruit, it doesn't matter what kind they are.
ReplyDeleteHi Dennis, thanks, so true, I always remove the labels as they often cut into the branches. My blueberries are also about ready to bloom.
ReplyDeleteWe have a wild peach trees blooming in our woods right now. They are so pretty. We have a wild plum, but it's not blooming yet. I think it is usually a little later.
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, never heard of wild peach trees, but have of plums.
DeleteThose are beautiful blossoms...no matter the variety. You are lucky to have blooms already...my cherry (ornamental) isn't even near blossoms. Glad you're up and around again! A good sign of spring!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, the fruit trees are on that south facing wall so it helps to warm them up quite a bit and we are on a south facing hill as well.
DeleteYour photos are wonderful! Nothing has bloomed around here yet. We've had some warm days, but it's turned cold again...sigh...
ReplyDeleteHi Turquoisemoon, thanks, we are going to get cold this weekend again, hope we can save the blossoms of the fruits.
DeleteFruit trees have such wonderful blossoms! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Rian, thanks, that peach tree is just a bout five feet tall and is covered with blossoms.
DeleteGood morning, Linda.... OH blossoms! lovely.. some DAY we will have blossoms ! :).. I hope you are on the mend with your leg.. great creative days to you.. Trish
ReplyDeleteHi Trish, thanks, same to you, a little better each day but still very stiff.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you get a peach or two this year. They are so good, warm from the tree.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, I grew them in California and they were indeed good. I try to get varieties you can't get at the grocery store. Red haven is our favorite but couldn't find that variety for here.
DeleteBlossom is an annual miracle isn't it? So very beautiful, so very hopeful...
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, yes I never tire of seeing the beauty of nature.
