Something small as a reminder of those who gave all. To me a baby praying mantis is a perfect reminder of what Memorial Day is all about.
Memorial Day is the day we remember those who have fallen fighting for liberty and justice for all. Gary's jeep club was in the Memorial Day Parade which was held on Saturday in Blairsville. Today we go to a BBQ at one of the member's homes. I made a large bowl of potato salad to take with sour cream dill dressing.
Gary and I were sitting at our outdoor table a few days ago and a less than one inch baby praying mantis crawled out of an empty pot of some plants we just planted. We got him to crawl onto a stick and put him on the Japanese maple tree. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
Love that mantis. Incredible critters. Enjoy your BBQ and remember...
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks, when they get bigger they actually look at you, kind fo scary.
DeleteHave a wonderful and safe day.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, same to you and yours.
DeleteGreat little critter. I never thought they could start small and get bigger...do they molt or something? Have a good Memorial Day.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, yes they molt and thousands of them come out of an egg that looks like Styrofoam although we only saw one.
Deleteand Thanks to Gary for his service~~~~
ReplyDeleteHI Carroll, thanks, Gary didn't see to much combat but any war zone is a place that just about no one want's to ever be.
DeleteSounds like a great Memorial Day weekend. Praying Mantis are so intriguing.
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, they truly intrigue me when they can follow me with their eyes, kind of scary.
DeleteDid you do the "wave" when you were riding in the parade...?
ReplyDeleteHi Turquoisemoon, thanks, I stayed home and Gary was in parade and I must confess to not knowing what the wave is. ?
