Candy Roaster & Purple Hull Pea Season

It's North Georgia Candy Roaster and Purple Hull Pea season. I plan to stock up on both of these for winter eating. I made a batch of the purple hull peas, about the same as black eyed peas, added some onion and bacon and dill seeds from my garden. A strange combo but the dill seeds would have dropped from the plant so I wanted to use them since they are really nutritious (click the dill seeds link). The squash will keep till I am ready to cook it up.

Tuesday I was at the farmer's market, yesterday I worked at the gallery, today I set up at a new stockist and then have a painting class in the afternoon, and Friday I have a long overdue hair cut and then Saturday the farmer's market again. At the gallery I found out one person bought three of my pieces and has bought some previously. Only thing selling at a gallery is I don't know the collector.

Meanwhile I'm waiting on a shipment of clay. I really need clay to get some work made since it's taking a long time for things to dry this time of year when the air conditioning doesn't come on as much. I don't have time for much more. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.

  4. It’s always a balance to try to keep our pottery wet when we are working on it and dry when we we are done.

  7. Can you dry and keep the dill in a jar~~~just put the heads in a brown paper bag tie top and hang, then shake it~~~should work
Busy is good~~~how about a small guest book for customers to sign with comments, just a regular sprial and put cute paper on the front & back cover~~~might help know who buys and what they like

    1. Hi Carroll, thanks, the gallery has a guest book but it's for all who visit, not just one artist. I think the person paid with a card so I might be able to look it up.

  8. Like the names of the beans--what color were the flowers? You sound very busy! Clay does that...

  9. Hi Charlene, thanks, I think the flowers are white and then they turn yellow but the hulls are purple and the peas are inside. My cherokee black bean flowers are lavender I'll post them soon to show you.
