I need to make a ceramic plaque with Barney's name on it. Hey that's a good idea I can make dog and cat house names for other's too. See how my mind works.
I spoke to the company and FDA and both are aware of this mold problem. The company said that sometimes the cap gets loosened and a small amount of air gets in the bottle and the mold starts to develop. Brewed tea is pasteurized but not sterilized. The FDA said if any food isn't prepared at home it is suspect. Now if you do a search on the internet, you might come across a site with a list of recalled items. You'd be surprised at how many items a day are recalled.
The FDA suggested I read every package thoroughly before I buy it. What? I read the expiration dates and the ingredients already because I have to be sure there isn't any gluten or other worrisome chemicals in the product. Not only that I rarely get anything that is processed. Supposedly there is a slim chance of my getting ill unless I have a compromised immune system. With celiac disease my intestines aren't up to full par, hope all is well. Meanwhile the kiln is cooling down, so stay tuned for more new work. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
Love the cat house! Buy some loose tea and brew your own. It's much cheaper, easier, safer, and tastier!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzi, thanks, we purchased this tea when I was at the last farmer's market as we were rushed. ugh it was so disgusting so far I am ok. Barney is hesitant to go in the cat house but I am slowly trying to get him to like it. Ha.
ReplyDeleteA big sign that says " Barney's Cat House" sounds great. Put it down by the road where everyone can see it.
ReplyDeleteHi Dennis, thanks, yes I was going to make one up like that but down by the road some of the neighbors being good "Baptists" might not appreciate that, ha.
DeleteSnickering at Dennis's comment.
ReplyDeleteBleah on the slimy goop front.
I am so grateful that I drink loose leaf tea. And occasionally tea bags.
Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, yes if you would have experienced what I did you would definitely appreciate home brewed.
DeleteYes, gag at the tea. When it's colder Barney will disappear inside.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, I think you are right we are just trying to get him acclimated to the new home, I can't figure it out he's slept on the white sheep skin before. He must have some deep seated fear of being locked up in an enclosure.
ReplyDeleteBarney's new house looks luxurious! I hope he decides it's the "cats meow".
ReplyDeleteLike Suzie said, brew your own tea... especially after that horrible experience!
Hi Michele, thanks, we are trying to get him to go in enticing him with food and such, I think when it gets cold he'll go in there. We have spoiled him royal.
ReplyDeletegood luck with your cat - my little dog would never sleep in the wonderful (we thought) kennel we built for her, preferring to sleep under the verandah... and yes, stick with your own home brewed tea... perhaps make a flask to take with you next time.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, thanks, I can't figure out why he is so scared to go into the house, he must have been locked up in the past and couldn't get out. Yes will be making my own tea from now on.
ReplyDeleteLinda, what kinds of tests do the doctors do to test for celiac disease, and do you have to take medication?
