a fern discovered today
delicate leaves grow in a semi-circle
maidenhead fern with black stems
wild geranium
covering a hillside
mayapple again
a marvelous find
white trillium in a bog
white violets on a hillside
some folks have never seen
the wondrous mysteries of nature
immersion in nature
provides solace and reverence
hope of good for today
and the future.
Sublime.
ReplyDeleteMaiden hair is something I cannot grow. Too dry? It seems to turn up its toes v quickly. Others succeed, but not me.
Love the magic of nature. The healing magic.
Hi Elephant's Child, thanks, these are growing wild I think our dry hill here would not grow them either. these were growing on a north facing hillside with seep springs along the top.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your photos of the wild flowers and woods around your house. Things kind of stalled here with our stretch of cold rainy weather. We may actually have sunny days this week!
ReplyDeleteFiddle head ferns and morel mushrooms are in our local market. Sauteed and served with lemon butter....yum!
Hi Suzi, thanks, oh one of my dreams is to one day to eat the morel and the fiddleheads; none at our market here, maybe in Asheville, might be worth a trip, oh and the lemon butter would be perfect.
DeleteYou have some lovely wild flowers around you... we have a similar Maiden Hair fern here in Australia with the black stems... I like because the new leaves are pink. Your white violet is unusual too.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, thanks, when I saw the white violet I thought of you and your violet plate. I have never seen a white violet and I almost passed it by but at closer inspection I saw the leaves indeed showed they were violots.
DeleteI love wild ferns. I don't seem to have any around here. When I was in NH I liked to add some fronds to flower arrangements.
ReplyDeleteHi Michele, thanks, these semi circle maidenhead ferns I have never seen till the other day, they were beautiful and so delicate. Ferns are great in a flower arrangement.
DeleteI seldom see trillium. How beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thanks, the north side of the hills are filled with the trillium. I saw one that was really bright pink but it was too far away to take a good photo.
DeleteOh how lovely! It's like taking a walk with you in the woods. Spring blooms are so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, on the woods are such a treat around here much different than the west coast woods I used to traipse around in.
DeleteOh, we hope to get to Brasstown Bald in June, and your photos are making me want to go right now!
