Another trip to the ER last night, water pills were not enough to keep my dangerously high blood pressure at bay. The ER had to prescribe a BP pill. I've started taking my blood pressure at home. I am also outlining my dietary intake to provide the doctor when I get an appointment next week. Since I already have a lean diet and many doctors assume most folks don't, I want to be prepared. Finally my severe headache went away mostly by this morning.
With all the big winds we've had many branches have fallen to earth. I found a tulip tree branch on the deck with a bud on it. The tree we have is too tall to get a good photo of the flowers. But I remembered
the tree I planted in Springville and I copied the photo above for you to see the flower. The flowers are often hidden among the dense leaves.
Finding the branch with the bud on the deck, lets me know the tulip trees are about to bloom. The bees will be happy to rest in the comfort of the petals much as this bumble bee above is doing from my garden in California. I'd love to visit all the gardens I've planted over the years and see how they've grown.
I was watching a gardening program yesterday morning; they mentioned when a person plants a live oak tree they don't plant it for themselves but for the future. Since live oaks grow so slowly one must have a vision and imagine the beauty and shade they will provide for succeeding generations. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
Linda, so sorry to hear about your trip to the ER. Certainly hope that problem is contained... and no repeat trips necessary.
ReplyDeleteI love Live Oaks, but they do take forever to grow. Need to plant a tree in our front as the existing crabapple that has been there for over 30 years seems to be dying.
Hi Rian, thanks, doing better today, I hate to think how much two er visits will cost but it was the weekend and near midnight so I had to go. So sorry about your crabapple, they are lovely I planted one last year and it is really growing so you might be able to replant another.
DeleteFor high blood pressure, I take Lozartan, which seems to help. David takes Lisinopril for his BP.

DeleteSorry to hear you're having health problems. I've been taking BP pills for many years. The crabapple tree by my patio is budding out and seems right on schedule to bloom on Mother's Day. Last year, the blossoms were already falling off then.
ReplyDeleteHi Janice, thanks, I read that one in three adults has high blood pressure; I guess I shouldn't be surprised. My crabapple has already bloomed and leafed out and is putting on little apples.

Hi Suzi, thanks, I am not sure if the high BP was sudden because I wasn't watching it; perhaps that is a warning to all who read here, you never know; I told my sister to watch hers. and my brother that passed away early had high BP. It was really low this am but now is medium.
