Our blueberry plants are now almost five feet tall and are loaded with blueberries. I decided to add the blueberries to a salad made with my own home grown green leaf lettuce.
I dressed the salad with anchovies (and their packing oil), grated parmesan and white balsamic vinegar. We had the salad for lunch. Just before dinner Gary asked if there was any lettuce left. I said yes. We had another salad just like the first one. It was that good.
Just after Gary unloaded the dishwasher we discovered Bonkers making himself comfortable in the baking pans. It's not even June and already the weather has turned hot. I'm thinking it's going to be the lazy days of summer this year. Thanks for reading and for all your comments.
I adore blueberries in salad. Grapes are good too.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to summer.
Hi Sue, thanks, oh we are so lucky we planted the blueberry bushes when we first moved here.
DeleteBlueberries! Just a little envy here as ours are just finishing blooming.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzi, thanks, I am always amazed since ours are so early but the blossoms are much hardier than fruit blossoms since we always get some blueberries.
DeleteOh Bonkers...you are so cute! I love blueberries just about any way. They are really sweet and I can imagine the sweet/salty/crunchy salad was delicious.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, thanks, Bonkers definitely keeps us entertained, he really is so cute with his antics, he has taken to liking catnip and goes crazy for it. Walnuts might have been a good addition to the salad.
ReplyDeleteI too love blueberries. When I use them in a pie or anything baked, I generally freeze them first... so they don't make everything blue. Doing this I've come to realize that frozen blueberries make a great snack! And I can see that Bonkers keeps you guys smiling...
ReplyDeleteHi Rian, thanks, it's been so hot they are all ripening at once so I am having to freeze some too.
DeleteIn addition to salad, sometimes, we use grapes.... yummy
ReplyDeleteHi Tanza, thanks, yes grapes are good but never thought to put them in salad, must try that.
DeleteMmm.. sounds great.I love the crunch and tartness of a green apple in my salad
ReplyDeleteHi Hena, thanks, oh green apple must try that too, I also love sunflower seeds or nuts in my sslad.
