Seared Ahi Tuna with Ginger Dipping Sauce

I'm trying various recipes with the ahi tuna I purchased at Aldi.
This time it's Seared Ahi Tuna with Ginger Dipping Sauce.
Let the ahi tuna steaks come to room temp and pat dry.
Ahi Tuna Rub:
1 tbs coarse ground pepper
1 tbs paprika
1 tbs dried coriander
1 tsp white sesame seed
1 tsp black sesame seed
1/4 tsp of coarse sea salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Blend together rub mixture.
Brush tuna steaks with olive oil and then
pat the rub gently onto all surfaces of ahi tuna and set aside to rest.
If cooking more tuna steaks double the rub recipe.
Meanwhile cook a blend of 1/4 cup of sushi rice & 1/4 cup brown rice
which takes about 20 minutes to cook.
Ginger dipping sauce:
2 tbs olive oil
2 tbs rice wine vinegar
2 tbs wasabi paste
1 tbs soy sauce or aminos
1 tbs mayonaise
1 tbs of lemon juice
1 tsp sesame oil
1 inch portion of fresh ginger peeled and micro-grated
Whisk together and set aside.

It takes longer to make the rub and sauce than it does to cook the tuna.
Just before searing tuna I coated them with additional sesame seeds.
Sear the tuna on all sides in hot oil,
using tongues to gently handle the tuna.
When presenting the rice I love the look of both rice colors
I scooped the rice up in a 1/4 cup and plopped it down on the plate.
Next plate the seared ahi tuna steak
then drizzle the ginger sauce over the top.
Pickled red cabbage or frisee salad would be a welcome addition.
So delicious and so good for you too.
Enjoy.
