Dust to Dust

Dust to Dust

I saw a moth yesterday on the deck after the rains.
I thought it needed some heat to fly so I decided to pick it up.
I thought it was moving but it was ants eating it.
I decided to place in my rose bush just in case.
Today I saw these tiny yellow wasps eating it.
Look closely right in the middle under its body.

This is what the beautiful Antheraea polyphemus moth.
The eyes on the lower wings act as a natural foil to predators.
Even if I'd seen it sooner it would have been too late.
Such is the nature of things, dust to dust.

  1. Moths are so often very beautiful. And this one is no exception.
